Kentucky is known as the Bluegrass State. It is full of rolling hills and meadows of lush grass. Kentucky is also one of the top states for horseracing and horse breeding. There are almost as many horses as there are people in the state! Other agricultural exports for the state are chickens, cattle, corn and tobacco.

In 2005, the population for Kentucky was at 4.1 million people. Almost half, 1.8 million live in rural areas. There were 1.75 million housing units across the state, which is a 16.2% increase over the 1990’s. The median value for occupied structures is $86,700. The majority of houses were built after 1973.
