Louisiana is full of swamps, marshland, fields and trees. Of the 27.8 million acres, 7.8 million is used as agriculture lands. The biggest producers in the area are rice, cotton, soybeans and grain. Over 73,000 acres of farmland was developed during 2005 and 2006 to make way for residential and commercial growth. The land was turned in to subdivisions, single house lots and retail space.
