Minnesota is called the Land of 10,000 lakes. It borders on Lake Superior, and has over 10,000 inland lakes to live and enjoy. Minneapolis and St. Paul offer all of the amenities of big city living, while remaining cheaper than the east or west coast. The central part of the state is grassy plains while the north is rugged coastline. Many waterfront properties are available on the lakes statewide for a reasonable price.
Minnesota has 50.9 million acres of land, with 27.5 being used in farms. The major agriculture exports for the area are dairy products, cattle, corn, soybeans and hogs. Other important industries are food processing, printing, publishing, and metal products.
In 2000, there were 2 million housing units statewide. That is an 11.8% increase in just ten years. The median value of occupied units is $122 thousand. Houses, townhouses and condominiums are in an even distribution across the state. Hi-rises are in Rochester, Minneapolis, St. Paul and Duluth.
