New York Housing Trend

The real estate market is mixed across New York. In Buffalo, housing has cooled and there are more sellers than buyers in the market. The average sale price of a house is $120,000. This is even with the prices from a year ago. Houses are on the market for 60 to 90 days before selling.

In Manhattan, buying a place will cost millions of dollars. Rent is an option, but will be expensive too. Manhattan houses are in the form of townhouses, floors in hi-rises, condominiums and skyscrapers. Only in the Bronx, Long Island and Staten Island can you find single-family houses.

In Rochester, the average price of a house is $150,000. The market is even with buyers and sellers and houses are on the market for 60 to 120 days before selling. Sellers are getting 95% of the asking price.
