Even with jobs and earnings not looking so great, the real estate market seems unaffected. Bismarck has sale prices 14% higher than in the summer of 2005. Houses are on the market for 30-60 days and getting 95-100% of their asking price. The market is active with first time and move up buyers taking advantage of low interest rates. New construction has slowed across most of the state, with the exception of Bismarck and West Fargo. These areas are desirable location to raise families and have a low cost of living. Subdivisions and schools are being built to keep up with the demand.
