Employment figures climb across the Key State. Between 2003 and 2004, over 60K jobs were created. These jobs were in the agricultural, health care and manufacturing industries. Earnings rose 1.8% from 2003 to 2004. For all of 2005, the unemployment rate was 5%. It has since dropped and was at 4.8% in July of 2006.
Education is a priority for the residents in Pennsylvania. They have 3,262 and spend $9,731 on each student annually. The report card shows 78% of 4th graders and 69% of 8th graders had met the basic requirements for math in 2003. Those numbers increased in 2005 to 82% and 72% respectively. The graduation rate is up to 81.9%.
