Whether you want to live on the farm or in the big city, Texas is the place to be. Texas is a mainly flat state, with rolling hills and low lying mountains. Texas has more land farmed on it than any other state, with 129.8 million farm acres. The state itself takes up over 7% of our nations land. It also has three of the top ten most populated cities in the United States: Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio. There are 22.8 million people living in Texas, and almost as many cows. They estimate the cattle population at 16 million.

In 2000, there were 8.1 million housing units, up 16.4% from last year, with 6.5 million of these in urban areas, while 1.5 million were in rural farm areas. The housing here is very diverse. It is especially influenced by its Mexican, Spanish and French heritage. You can find anything from a ranch farmhouse, to a stucco home, to a sky rise apartment. The median housing cost is $82,500.
