Virginia has many different environments to choose from. There are beautiful beaches, the Blue Ridge Mountains, hilly plateaus, and swamps. One of the original thirteen colonies, this area is covered in historical homes and landmarks. Half of the battles during the civil war were fought in Virginia and many of our founding fathers were born, lived and died here.
In 2005, over 7.5 million people called Virginia their home. The population and construction of homes has been headed in an upward trend since the early nineties. In 2000, there were 2.9 million housing units, which is up 16.3% from 1990. Of the total land area, 25.3 million acres, only 8.6 million acres of it is farmland.
