History of Australian law was primarily based on British law. However since Australia's federation in 1901 a shift occured where Australians started making their own civil and criminal laws.

Australian Law differs from british law in that each state of Australia has its own systems,regulations and courts regarding only that state. While also including federal laws governing the entire country.
