The molecular sciences are a diverse field with a focus on understanding and explaining molecular interactions and the relationships between molecules. The field encompasses a broad range of scientific disciplines, including physical chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, genetics, and physics.
Schools in the molecular sciences give students the knowledge and the tools they need to develop an understanding of the molecular basis of naturally occurring phenomenon, diseases, and therapeutics, through coursework in the general and advanced sciences. Students will take general chemistry, biology, mathematics, and physics courses as well as specialized courses in fields such as organic chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, genetics, biophysics, or bioengineering. Molecular sciences schools prepare students for careers in scientific research, medicine, pharmacy, and engineering.
